15th Feb - A whole trading day! S&P emini futures trading

Every now and again I get a Friday off and if I have nothing on, I dedicate this day to trading the S&P emini futures contract. Sometimes the problem with just trading the evening session is that I find that I have missed the days major move and then I get into the market wanting to grab some profits which I should have if i were trading the whole session. Although I ended up down today, I didn't feel all that frustrated. I felt that I was able to read the market. I did make some mistakes

What happened? Where is it going wrong?

I was annoyed with my performance today... my first trade was a good trade i felt but I had felt some fear and moved the stop too close.. it was at an obvious level where stop runners would push it to... 132500... not very clever. My initial stop was at 132450 which didn't get hit and would have yield the profit that I had targetted. In addition, I also placed a trade to short the Dow Jones at 121650.. this was a perfectly good entry and I would have managed to grab some profit or move my sto

24th January – a respectable loss! S&P trading

24th January - a respectable loss! S&P trading

First trade was a short at 134500 when the market bounced up from a fall and hit the 5 day MA line and stochastics were looking to cross towards the downside. Unfortunately I was wrong and got stopped out.  Second trade was another short at 134725 at the market hit the previous swing high level…  I was proved wrong again. By this stage, I was nursing a -14 loss!! Ouch! Hmm.. then I saw an opportunity to short again when the market hit the top of the channel and I put on my trade.. luc
